Strengthening the sanitary industry: GROHE sponsors WorldSkills in Lyon

In the summer of sport 2024, the best of the best in many disciplines measured their strength in France – at the Tour de France, the Olympic and Paralympic Games. The competition continued in Lyon over the past few days: from September 10 to 15, 1,400 young talents from over 70 countries took part in the 47th WorldSkills competition in Lyon, one of the world’s most important vocational education and skills excellence events. As a Silver Sponsor of WorldSkills, GROHE supported the organisation of the competition for Plumbing and Heating and provided products for installation. After four exciting days, Weilong Sun from China prevailed over 25 peers to become the current World Champion in Plumbing and Heating. Rubben Duggan from the UK and Doyoung Kang from Korea received a silver medal.

As a special hands-on activity GROHE offered every visitor to assemble the new Tempesta hand shower and take it home. In the so-called Try-a-skill area more than 1,200 hand showers have been handed out after the successful activity. In the Brand space area our new Rapido Shower Frame and the new Cubeo line have been showcased. In addition to that, GROHE showed the intensive support of WorldSkills and EuroSkills and the GIVE program.

With its GIVE (GROHE Installer Vocational Training and Education) program, the brand works together with more than 70 plumbing schools across Europe and provides them with modern equipment and materials to ensure the best possible training for future installers.

Bringing the installer profession into the spotlight is an important task as the sanitary industry faces challenges in attracting young talent to open positions worldwide. While the demand for installers is growing, the number of people pursuing this career path continues to decline. The partnership with WorldSkills International and the GIVE program are invaluable efforts GROHE is making to support the sanitary industry. These efforts help address the shortage of installers while raising the profile and recognition of the profession.
