How we ensure long-lasting water enjoyment
The journey to high quality bathroom fittings starts with thorough testing in our own research & development laboratory in Hemer, Germany.
Tested for life
GROHE cartridges are tested with up to 220,000 load cycles, corresponding to a simulated service life of up to 15 years in a 4-person household. This not only guarantees durability in our high quality taps but also ensures that every interaction remains as smooth and precise as on day one.
With highest precision
In leaching tests, water flowing through a GROHE tap is checked for two-thirds of the elements in the periodic table. The testing precision is 1 in 10,000,000,000 – equivalent to a 3-gram sugar cube dissolved in the water volume of 1,200 Olympic swimming pools.
And unmatched accuracy
The ceramic discs of cartridges form the heart of all GROHE single-lever mixers. The surface of these ceramic discs must be 250 times smoother than a glass bead. The evenness and structure of the surface are scanned three-dimensionally using an X-ray laser.
Built to last
The surfaces of our GROHE products are rigorously tested to withstand even the harshest conditions – including repeated temperature changes of up to 70 degrees Celsius.
Unstoppable durability
GROHE hand showers with the ShockProof feature would withstand a fall from a height of 2 metres without any functional impairment, proving they’re a high quality bathroom solution.
Supreme reliability
The tightness of GROHE cartridges is tested at up to 50 bar. This means they can withstand water pressure at a depth of 500m. The world record for a scuba diver is 332m.

Designed & engineered in Germany
Our commitment to a unique quality experience extends beyond also to design and manufacturing: Whereas all of our product developments start in our lab in Hemer, our design is created in our in-house design studio in Düsseldorf. The products for the European market are mainly made in Hemer, Porta Westfalica, Lahr, Albergaria and Klaeng. All our production sites conform to our uniform manufacturing standards to ensure their consistent GROHE quality.
