GROHE Curates Experiential Living Installations

Slade Architecture and Ghislaine Viñas Chosen by GROHE’s Paul Flowers to Design Conceptual Works

New York - On June 17, GROHE will unveil two dynamic concept installations designed by top New York firms: Ghislaine Viñas Interior Design and Slade Architecture. Each will portray a distinct, forward-looking take on trends inspired by the evolution of the bathroom in modern life, and the enjoyment of water.

To kick off the evening, journalist Melissa Feldman will moderate a conversation on experiential living in home and hospitality environments, interviewing concept curator Paul Flowers, GROHE’s design SVP, James and Hayes Slade, and Ghislaine Viñas. After the talk, visitors will experience the conceptual exhibits, which will remain up for viewing by appointment through the end of July at the GROHE Live! Center.

Two Unique Design Stories

Ghislaine Viñas: A Drop in the Bucket
Water is a luxury. Having lived in the Netherlands and South Africa, designer Ghislaine Viñas was influenced by the presence of water in her society. While some cultures have rich resources, others are not as fortunate. Using bold, bright blues and a nod to the patterns of Africa and the Ndbele tribe, and color inspiration from Dutch Delft blue, A Drop in the Bucket shows a marriage of these two worlds. Through her artistic interpretation of her experiences, she captures several movements in living: color, pattern, personalization and sustainable-mindedness through water conservation.

Slade Architecture: A Mirror in the Bathroom
In the future, high-density urban living will be the norm for many, while personal space will become even more precious and compact. The most private space, the bathroom, will play a critical role in allowing for much-needed moments of escape, relaxation and rejuvenation. The strictly functional role of the bathroom as a hygiene space will evolve to become a psychological oasis. Slade Architecture presents the bathroom as retreat, allowing technology to create an immersive and escapist environment that is visually engaging, incorporating moving images of nature.

The designer’s interpretation of the experiential living concept was in response to an invitation from Paul Flowers to explore how people relate to bathrooms in their homes and how these spaces are designed around personal preferences to create a perfect retreat for rebalancing the body and mind.
