GROHE Rainshower collection selected for most sought-after bathrooms, including Herzog & de Meuron’s 56 Leonard in New York City

New York, NY, July 8, 2014, GROHE America is pleased to announce that its GROHE Rainshower collection adorns the residences of the most imaginative and architecturally significant residential tower to be introduced to the Manhattan skyline in recent history.

Designed by Herzog & de Meuron, best known for Beijing’s “Nest” (Olympic Stadium) and London’s Tate Modern museum and developed by Alexico Group & Hines, 56 Leonard was conceived to immerse residents into the cityscape and offers panoramic views of Manhattan as far as the Atlantic Ocean.

56 Leonard, slated for completion by Spring 2015, will also feature an unprecedented collaboration with a commissioned work by artist Anish Kapoor—marking his first permanent public work in New York.

The 60-story building, standing 830-feet high (253-meters) at Church Street and Leonard Street in Tribeca's Historic District, will have 145 residences, each with their own unique floor plan and private outdoor space.

The two- to five-bedroom condominiums at 56 Leonard will range in size from 1,400-square feet to 6,400-square feet, (130-square meters to 595-square meters,) with every detail custom designed by Herzog & de Meuron. The homes connect residents to the skyline with cantilevered balconies, while offering soaring glass window walls that reveal panoramas of the cityscape, water, bridges and beyond.

“Herzog & de Meuron thought about every detail and fixture for the most discerning international buyers. They curated the best products possible that would make the ultimate statement, but would stand the test of time, and we are honored to be featured within the residences,” said Tom Santer, VP of Projects for GROHE America.

Bathrooms include custom details by the architect, including pill-shaped vanities, private shower stalls, and cast six-foot oval soaking tubs that offer residents a spa-like retreat. The Master Bathroom includes 4-inch-wide plank travertine floors with timer-controlled NuHeat to radiate heat in cold months. GROHE’s Rainshower Collection brings another unique design element and completes the spa experience — the minimal, recessed flat-paneled shower head turns the bathroom into a quiet oasis.
